BRIEF: AT&T enhances mobile broadband in Danville
Apr 13, 2012 (Danville Register & Bee - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
Local AT&T customers should have better mobile Internet coverage and cell phone performance now that the company completed wireless enhancements along U.S. 360, U.S. 29 and the Danville Expressway.
"Investments in mobile Internet infrastructure will drive economic growth and stimulate jobs," said President J. Michael Schweder of AT&T Mid Atlantic in a statement. "Our ongoing investments in Virginia will give businesses, residents and visitors to Danville access to a more advanced mobile Internet experience."
The network initiative added new layers of frequency to cell sites throughout Danville to more efficiently manage available spectrum and increase mobile broadband capacity, according to a news release. The AT&T network is based on the 3rd Generation Partnership Project family of technologies.
"Demand for wireless bandwidth is growing rapidly, and we want to meet that demand for our customers," said Erika K. Thompson-Kemp, vice president and general manager for AT&T in Virginia and West Virginia. "We want you to have an extraordinary experience whether you are sharing videos and photos with friends, visiting local shopping outlets, or looking up stats while at the race track."
