BRIEF: Answer Man: Look to the Doubletree cookie
Jun 27, 2009 (Post-Bulletin - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
Dear Answer Man, is the Radisson in Rochester now officially the Doubletree, since the signs are changed? And what's with the cookie on all the ads for Doubletree? -- Ted
Yes, it's official -- the former Radisson Plaza Hotel at 150 S. Broadway is now Doubletree Rochester Downtown, as of Wednesday. There's more work to be done inside to convert the hotel fully to the Doubletree look, but the public areas have the luxe look of Doubletree.
The hotel chain, owned by Hilton, describes itself as "a growing collection of upscale accommodations in more than 150 gateway cities, metropolitan areas and vacation destinations."
Among their signature touches are the "legendary, warm chocolate chip cookie welcome" at check-in time. About 10.5 million cookies are served to guests every year at Doubletree hotels. Assuming about 20 chocolate chips per cookie, doing the math ... hmm ... that's simply a lot of chocolate.
The Answer Man's better than a warm chocolate chip cookie. Send questions to answerman@postbulletin.com or P.O. Box 6118, Rochester, MN 55903.
