BRIEF: 7 golds, 13 total medals for Special Olympics athletes

Mar 12, 2010 (Cayman Net News - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Some dominant performances on the day and a lot of hard work and preparation beforehand paid off at the recent Special Olympics Latin American Regional Games. Our contingent did the country proud with their efforts and achievements.



Medal winners: GOLD -- 6: Cindy Whittaker (3): 100m Sprint; 200m Sprint, 3kg Shot Put Andrew Smilley (2): 400m Freestyle & 100m Individual Medley (swimming) Leon Lambert: 4kg Shot Put Solomon Webster: Individual Bocce SILVER -- 2: Kanza Bodden: 25m Backstroke (swimming) Andrew Hayles: 4kg Shot Put BRONZE -- 4: Tessa Terry (2): 3kg Shot Put & 200m Sprint Andrew Hayles: 100m Sprint (tied) Leon Lambert: 100m Sprint (tied) Complete list of athletes from Cayman competing at the Games: Kanza Bodden, Kathryn Kleinworth, Quinton Ebanks, Andrew Smilley, Tessa Terry, Cindy Whittaker, Andrew Hayles, Leon Lambert, Elena Ow Lam and Solomon Webster.
