Bridgewater wins four WiMAX clients in South America
(Telecomworldwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge)
Bridgewater Systems (Nasdaq: BWC), a specialist in subscriber
management solutions for mobile service providers, announced on 23
October that it has been selected by four new customers in Brazil,
Ecuador, Mexico and Chile to accelerate the launch of WiMAX mobile data
services across the region.
The company said that many countries are adopting WiMAX wireless
broadband technology to deliver Internet services to consumers and
small and medium businesses and facilitate rapid economic development.
In Latin America, it is estimated that WiMAX subscribers will grow from
660,000 in 2007 to 13 million by 2012, according to the 2008 WiMAX
Forum WiMAX Technology Forecast.
Bridgewater Systems is providing Latin American customers with its
WiMAX subscriber management platform that provides a unified view of
subscribers, the applications they use, their service entitlements and
billing profiles. This is complemented by the Authentication,
Authorisation and Accounting (AAA) Service Controller and a powerful
policy and profile engine that allow customers to authenticate,
authorise and manage subscriber access to high speed Internet, Voice
over IP and other advanced services on a per-subscriber basis. This
solution is an integral part of the WiMAX architectures being delivered
by the company's global reseller partners.
The South American customers were not identified and no financial
details of the contracts were disclosed.
