Border Patrol Agents Rescue Woman Injured in Car Accident

Jacumba, Calif. - This morning, Border Patrol agents helped rescue a 31-year-old woman who was involved in a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 8 in Jacumba.
At about 9:30 a.m., agents came upon a BMW sedan rolled over on the side of the interstate. Agents found the injured, unconscious woman trapped inside the vehicle. After a Border Patrol Emergency Medical Technician responded to the scene, agents pried open the vehicle's door, shut off the vehicle, stabilized the woman, and safely extracted her from the vehicle. Agents then rendered first aid as they waited for responding paramedics.
The woman was airlifted to a local hospital. The extent of her injuries is unknown.
The Border Patrol utilizes highly-trained, mobile agents to protect our borders and communities. In fiscal year 2008, agents conducted 77 rescues in San Diego sector.
