BeyondTrust Integrates with McAfee for Secure Vulnerability Scanning

CARLSBAD, Calif. --(Business Wire)--

BeyondTrust, the leading provider of privilege delegation and authorization management, today announced a technology integration with McAfee (News - Alert) Vulnerability Manager and BeyondTrust's PowerBroker for Servers. The integration will enable customers to manage user access and privileges while expanding the coverage of security scans for a more complete, accurate view of IT security and compliance across physical, virtual and cloud environments.

McAfee Vulnerability Manager provides vulnerability assessment and lifecycle management of an organization's networked assets. PowerBroker enables system administrators to delegate privileges and authorization without disclosing root passwords - preventing misuse of privileges on desktops and servers in heterogeneous IT environments. The new integration enables customers to use PowerBroker root delegation functionality in conjunction with McAfee Vulnerability Manager's authenticated vulnerability and compliance scans on Unix and Linux systems. This allows system administrators to gain deep visibility into device vulnerabilities while maintaining UNIX security best practices so they can delegate privileges and authorization while recording all interactions, including keystroke information, for auditing purposes.

"With PowerBroker and McAfee Vulnerability Manager working in unison, a company can get a single, risk-prioritized view of vulnerabilities and compliance deficiencies across all Unix/Linux server environments," said John Mutch, CEO of BeyondTrust. "McAfee and BeyondTrust combined enhanced security practices to proactively deploy compliance best practices, while strengthening the protection of mission critical data."

"Our mutual customers that have standardized their root delegation on PowerBroker can now leverage this integration with McAfee Vulnerability Manager to further improve the management of access to systems while scanning for vulnerabilities and compliance checks on a global scale," said Stuart McClure, general manager of Risk and Compliance at McAfee. "Additionally, many organizations have deployed McAfee and PowerBroker to secure their private cloud infrastructures in order to carefully analyze business and security requirements, and evaluate the depth and reliability of security features and cloud service levels."
