Beijing Netcom Fixes Two IPTV Equipment Vendor
(SinoCast Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)BEIJING, Mar 22, 2006 (SinoCast via COMTEX) --China Network Communications Group Corporation (China Netcom) reveals that its branch in Beijing finally selects ZTE Corporation (SSE: 000036, SEHK:0763) and Alcatel Shanghai Bell (ASB), two leading telecom equipment vendors in China, to build up a trial IPTV network for it.
The trial network will have a capacity of nearly 50,000 households and will enable users to enjoy mainstream applications of IPTV, such as receiving TV programs on demand and watching movies by the broadband.
Chang Qing, a senior official at Beijing Netcom, discloses that the company has not authorized any media to public this news by far. An insider with Beijing Netcom says on the anonymous condition that the company will sign the formal cooperation agreements with the bidding winners in the coming weeks. Then, ZTE Corporation and ASB will start to supply equipment and the network construction will kick off within one month since the equipment delivery.
