Barron's Sees Little Value Remaining in Walter Energy (WLT, ANR)

Jan 02, 2010 (SmarTrend(R) News Watch via COMTEX) -- 1/2/10 - Barron's reporter Alexander Eule says shares of Walter Energy (NYSE:WLT), up 330% in 2009, may need to "take a breather". Barron's first recommended shares of Walter in November 2008 (up 149% since the initial article) as the only pure play in metallurgical coal, used in the production of steel. Quoting analyst Dan Mannes of Avondale Partners, "A lot of things need to continue to go right to justify the stock price." Mannes cites continued imports of coal from China and higher metallurgical coal prices are among the issues that could impact shares of Walter going forward.

The article also noted that analyst Jeremy Sussman of Bream Murray Carret is bullish on prices for metallurgical coal but prefers Alpha Natural Resources (NYSE:ANR) instead.
