Bank robber flees with cash in city's 24th heist: The IBC Bank branch has been robbed three times in a year.
Oct 06, 2009 (Tulsa World - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
A note-passing robber made off with cash from a bank in a busy retail district Monday afternoon, police said.
The man walked into the IBC Bank branch at 8202 E. 71st St. and gave a teller a note demanding cash about 3:15 p.m., police Sgt. Dave Walker said.
When the teller complied, the man left and got into a newer-model silver Chevrolet HHR with tinted windows and a paper tag, Walker said.
No customers were in the bank at the time, and the thief never produced a gun, Walker said.
IBC Banks have been a popular target for thieves, and Walker said the branch that was robbed Monday has been held up at least three times since December.
Police reviewed surveillance footage Monday evening and described the robber as white, about 6 feet tall and 160 to 190 pounds. He was unshaven and wore a tan jacket, a red ball cap, blue jeans and black tennis shoes.
In his note, the thief demanded specific denominations of cash and warned the teller against including dye packs with the money, Walker said.
The robbery was the 24th at a financial institution in Tulsa this year.
No arrests have been made in connection with Friday's armed robbery at an Arvest Bank in the 200 block of South Memorial Drive, Walker said.
Anyone with any information about any of the rob- beries is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 596-COPS, send a
