Bajaj Auto to donate Rs 4.5 crore for upgrade of CoEP department [Pune] [Times of India]


(Times of India Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) PUNE: Two-wheeler manufacturer Bajaj Auto Limited signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the College of Engineering Pune to fund the modernisation and renovation of the mechanical engineering department building. The company will donate Rs 4.5 crore as part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives. The MoU provides for the phased modernization of interiors of the building, retaining the exteriors of the heritage structure, a press release from Bajaj Auto said. It was signed in the presence of chairman Rahul Bajaj, CoEP governing body member Pratap Pawar, senior officers of Bajaj Auto and faculty members. A cheque for Rs 50 lakh was handed over by Bajaj Auto director Sanjiv Bajaj to Pawar. Bajaj, after signing the MoU, said, "I have fond memories of the college where both my sons completed their Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering. The learning that they acquired during the four years of their education has contributed immensely to their lives and I hold CoEP in very high esteem. The college compares with some of the best engineering institutions in the country today." Bajaj Auto is committed to high standards of corporate governance and has aligned itself with the changing environment and legal provisions to contribute for the good of society, he added. The principle of trusteeship followed by the founder of Bajaj Group, Jamnalal Bajaj, is being carried forward with dedication, he said.
