Azovmash to supply converter to MMK

(Interfax News Agency Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)KYIV. March 3 (Interfax) - Azovmash, one of Ukraine's largest heavy machinery companies, will deliver a 350-tonne converter to Russia's Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) (RTS: MAGN) by the end of 2006, an Azovmash spokesman told Interfax, citing a recently signed contract.



He did not specify the value of the contract, but said Azovmash and MMK are carrying out a cooperation program under which the Ukrainian plant supplied about 15 pieces of equipment to the Russian steelmaker in 2005, including teeming ladle cars, slag and scrap cars.

At the beginning of this year, Azovstal made eight scrap buckets for MMK.



Azovmash makes tank cars, freight cars, metallurgical equipment, gantry and traveling bridge cranes, fuellers and consumer goods. The company has major customers in Russia, Hungary, Iran, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

Azovmash increased sales by 7.7% to 2.86 billion hryvni in 2005, and aims to boost sales by at least 10% this year. vp
