Azingo First to Deliver Mobile Web 2.0 Experiences on an Open Mobile Linux Platform
SUNNYVALE, Calif. & BERLIN --(Business Wire)-- Mobile Linux company Azingo announced today that it will demonstrate new Web 2.0 applications running on Azingo Mobile, its open mobile Linux platform at the Open Source in Mobile (OSiM) conference September 17-18, 2008 in Berlin, Germany.
The Azingo Mobile application suite allows users to interact with Web 2.0 content and services provided by Google Maps and YouTube, among others. These tailor-made applications enable users to efficiently find and interact with Web content using touch or keypad controls and view Web information in a format appropriate for mobile screen sizes. In addition, the Azingo Mobile Web runtime technology enables applications developed by third parties to be discovered, downloaded and executed on mobile devices powered by Azingo Mobile.
"Web content is personal, increasingly integrated with people's lives," said Azingo CEO Mahesh Veerina. "And yet most Web experiences remain confined to desktop use. Azingo is changing that by delivering important, personalized Web 2.0 experiences to a wide range of mobile devices."
The Azingo Web 2.0 map application enables users to view interactive, dynamic and appropriately sized Google Maps, zooming in and out, panning and viewing both map and satellite images on mobile phones powered by Azingo Mobile. Users can search for "nearby" businesses or services and view the familiar "pushpin-mapped" locations with name, address, telephone number and websites for each.
In addition, Azingo's Web 2.0 video application enables users to interact with videos powered by YouTube: Users can search for videos by keywords or review categories of "favorites," "most viewed" and "top rated." To view the selected video, touch the image and watch it -- as it streams to the phone.
Azingo Mobile consists of a complete mobile Linux platform that includes a highly configurable user interface and Web 2.0-enabled mobile applications suite, an SDK for applications developers, and mobile Linux engineering services that offer customers high-speed porting and customization capability. Azingo Mobile is based on LiMo Foundation software and through leveraging the economies of open source innovations provides a more flexible platform for designing and deploying advanced mobile devices.
