Axia Public Relations Promotes Underwood

(PR Web Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (PRWEB) August 20, 2013 Axia Public Relations, with a local office at 222 E. Forsyth St., promoted Darby Underwood to public relations assistant. Underwood joined the firm as an intern in November 2012.

Prior to Axia, Underwood earned her Bachelor of Science degree in telecommunications, with a focus on news, from the University of Florida in May 2012. She worked as a reporter, producer and host for UF’s radio and TV stations, Florida’s 89.1 and WUFT-TV respectively. She was a finalist for the Florida Associated Press Broadcasters’ “Best Continuing Coverage” award and a member of the Pi Beta Phi Fraternity.

Upon graduation, Underwood opted to go the public relations route when she was offered an internship at Axia’s Jacksonville office.

“I thoroughly enjoyed my time interning at Axia and was thrilled when I earned a full-time position. PR creates an exciting environment to work in and it’s wonderful to be a part of such a great team of people,” Underwood said.

Underwood assists efforts in public relations campaigns for the firm’s national clients, including developing media lists, drafting news releases and pitching news stories to reporters.

Underwood is from Lake Placid, Fla. which is known for its caladiums, murals and small-town atmosphere. Now a Jacksonville resident, Underwood calls the River City home. As a Florida native, going to the Keys to fish and scuba dive are among her favorite things to do.
