Avnet Technology Solutions: Avnet and Motorola to Deliver Wireless LAN Security and Operational Support Solutions

Avnet Technology Solutions, an operating group of Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT), today announced it is building on its existing relationship with Motorola to deliver solutions for securing the wireless enterprise with advanced wireless intrusion prevention systems (WIPS). Avnet and Motorola will collaborate to bring Motorola's industry-leading AirDefense suite of products to solution providers and value-added resellers (VARs) in the United States and Canada, enabling them to deliver secure wireless local area networks (WLANs) regardless of WLAN infrastructure.
Motorola's AirDefense solution is designed to provide comprehensive wireless protection, regardless of location. The system delivers centralized visibility and control of the enterprise air space, as well as mobile wireless devices. It actively guards the enterprise infrastructure against wireless threats and extends this protection to mobile laptops, even when devices are outside the secure enterprise perimeter. In addition, the system can be used for centralized policy enforcement and compliance management.
