AT&T and Motorola unveil ruggedized 3G phone

AT&T Mobility and Motorola have unveiled a 3G mobile phone for use in harsh environments and aimed at outdoor enthusiasts and contractors.

The Motorola Tundra VA76r offers optional workforce management tools, navigation capabilities, access to the web via a 3G network, and AT&T Mobility's Push to Talk service. It also meets US 810F Military Specifications for drop, dust, vibration, humidity, severe temperatures, and rain.



Other features include Motorola's CrystalTalk Plus for clear communications, voice activation, phone book locking for call restrictions, a rugged antenna and keys, AT&T Navigator, and Xora GPS TimeTrack for AT&T. The device has 100 MB of available memory and up to 4GB of optional removable memory, and can be paired with compatible Bluetooth-enabled accessories.

Jeff Miller, vice president of sales at Motorola's mobile device division, said: "Motorola has a long heritage in developing rugged devices that stand up to the wear and tear of work and recreation while providing one-touch connectivity to the people and information that matter most."



Motorola Tundra VA76r will be available for $199.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a two-year contract.
