AT&T Invests Nearly $475 Million Over Three-Year Period To Enhance Local Network In Silicon Valley


SAN JOSE, Calif., March 25, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- AT&T* has invested nearly $475 million in its best-in-class wireless and wired networks in the San Jose area 1 from 2012 through 2014, driving a wide range of upgrades to enhance reliability, coverage, speed and performance for residents and business customers.

As part of its Project Velocity IP (VIP), an investment plan focused on network enhancement and expansion, AT&T in 2014 made 51 wireless network upgrades in Silicon Valley, including eight new cell sites, increased network capacity and 27 new wireless high-speed Internet connections.

Notable San Jose area enhancements in 2014 included 4G LTE expansion to:

  • Carlton Road from Riverside Road to Carpentaria Road, including Murphy Road, in Aromas
  • Skyline Boulevard from County Road down to the junction with La Honda Road along Highway 84 in Woodside
  • Highway 101, North Shoreline Boulevard, and to the surrounding commercial offices, including Google and Microsoft, in Mountain View
  • Meridian Avenue from Minnesota Avenue to Highway 280 in San Jose
  • The area bounded by the Central Expressway, De Guigne Drive, Duane Avenue and Corvin Drive in Sunnyvale
