AT&T Investing in Maine Wireless Network

(Wireless News Via Acquire Media NewsEdge)
AT&T has announced a planned investment of more than $15 million in the
Maine wireless network in 2008, which marks the largest investment
since 2005 and will bring the planned four-year state investment total
to nearly $70 million.

Part of the 2008 investment plan calls for 14 new cell sites in the
state. Several of those sites have already gone live, including those
in Auburn, Orland, and Wiscasset. Additional coverage will be added in
Orono, Cape Elizabeth, Winterport, Shapleigh, Berwick, Orrington,
Lewiston, Lisbon, Brewer, York and Wells by the end of the year.

"AT&T is making a substantial commitment to Maine and continues to
deliver significant benefits to consumers and businesses across the
state -- a direct result of the company's efforts to expand and enhance
its network operations and the synergies that come from being part of
the world's leading communications company," said Michele Consalvo,
vice president of external affairs for AT&T in Maine. "Our 2008
technology investment is a tangible measure of our desire to provide
our customers with unsurpassed service and delivers on our promise to
further innovation that will help grow the state's overall economic
well being."

"It is our goal to ensure that AT&T customers in Maine and all over the
country have the very best wireless experience possible -- which
includes great coverage and quality of service," said Steve Krom, vice
president and general manager for AT&T's wireless operations in New

England. "Our ongoing investment in the Maine network provides our
customers with the benefits of a state-of-the-art voice and data
network, along with cutting-edge wireless devices."

Later this year, AT&T will also expand its high speed third-generation
(3G) network to 79 additional cell sites, bringing mobile broadband
capability to customers in areas of Cumberland, Sagadahoc and York
Counties.

Maine customers in all parts of the state now have access to AT&T's
full lineup of exclusive devices and services, including the Apple
iPhone and the new Sony Ericsson w350 walkman phone.
