ATLAS to Participate at HIMSS 2013 Interoperability Showcase

CALABASAS, Calif. --(Business Wire)--

Atlas Development Corporation today announced plans to participate in the HIMSS 2013 Interoperability Showcase, to be held at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, La Nouvelle Ballroom Level 2, in New Orleans, LA, March 3-7, 2013.

The HIMSS Interoperability Showcase is part of the HIMSS 2013 Annual Conference and Exhibition. This year's keynote speakers include President Bill Clinton, 42nd President of the United States of America, and Eric J. Topol, Scripps Health and Professor of Genomics for The Scripps Research Institute.

Atlas Public Health has been working in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the Public Health Data Standards Consortium, and Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists (CSTE) in developing the technology to allow public health departments to receive case reports directly from hospital electronic health record (EHR) and laboratory systems. This technology has been successfully demonstrated in various pilot programs and is now available through Atlas Public Health's WorldCare suite of software.

During the HIMSS 2013 Interoperability Showcase, ATLAS will use its WorldCare suite of public health software, including EHR Gateway (News - Alert), and ATLAS' iOn Public Health eporting Service, to demonstrate how a health department can receive public health case reports and electronic lab reports (ELRs) from hospital systems by utilizing the standards outlined by Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) initiative within the Patient Care Coordination Technical Framework.

WorldCare boasts a highly configurable surveillance and case management system that allows users to receive alerts and take immediate action to protect the public. "We are proud to be part of this showcase demonstrating the effectiveness of the IHE profiles in facilitating the vital communication between hospitals and public health agencies," states Mark Marostica, Atlas Public Health Vice President of Global Business Development. He continues, "Through our partnership with the CDC, ATLAS is able to keep our clients at the forefront of improving data interoperability between systems, while protecting the patient and community by utilizing our effective WorldCare solutions."
