Astoria Software and Idiom Technologies to Offer Best-of-Breed SaaS Solution for Globalized, Structured Content Management
SAN MATEO, Calif. & WALTHAM, Mass. --(Business Wire)-- Driving the next generation in multilingual communication and dynamic product documentation, Astoria Software and Idiom(R) Technologies, Inc. today announced a joint integration and marketing agreement that enables customers to take advantage of greater freedom of choice as they assemble a best-of-breed SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) solution for globalized, structured content management.
Under the deal, the companies will use Web 2.0 technologies to integrate Astoria On-Demand, Astoria's SaaS solution for structured content management, with Idiom WorldServer(TM) On-Demand, the company's comprehensive, online globalization management system (GMS). In turn, Forbes Global 2000 manufacturers will gain seamless access to WorldServer On-Demand globalization solutions through the Astoria On-Demand interface. Manufacturers will also witness the immediate value and superior flexibility associated with SaaS delivery.
"Astoria and Idiom share a common vision of leveraging SaaS to benefit our customers," said Astoria Software's Vice President of Marketing Dan Ortega. "It's the logical next step for Astoria and Idiom to collaborate. SaaS and Web 2.0 facilitate a best-of-breed partnership, so both companies, working together, can deliver a much higher level of value at much lower costs than we could by working independently."
Eric Silberstein, CTO and founder of Idiom Technologies, said, "Idiom takes an open approach to our partner strategy. We want to remove the barriers to adoption and give our customers the freedom to choose the solution that best suits their globalization and content management needs. Our work with Astoria epitomizes this philosophy. Together, we're enabling a greater number of opportunities for our customers to choose the very best."
The Astoria and Idiom Advantage
Astoria and Idiom are partnering at a critical juncture in global manufacturing. Competition is pushing manufacturers to release more products more quickly in more variations than ever before. In turn, manufacturers are upgrading product documentation processes to reconcile the conflict between increasing product complexity and customer expectations for simplicity.
As a comprehensive, enterprise-class solution, Astoria On-Demand leverages technology and information industry standards -- including XML and Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA) -- to ensure a robust, adaptable solution that meets the fast-changing and complex product documentation publishing requirements of manufacturers.
Meanwhile, WorldServer On-Demand simplifies and accelerates the translation and localization processes of any content, from Websites to paper-based documents and software applications. By automating many costly and time-consuming translation and localization activities, WorldServer eliminates delays in the availability of translated content to speed time-to-market, while improving quality and reducing costs.
Together, the two SaaS offerings create a scalable solution for the rapid, low-cost creation and delivery of product documentation that is globally applicable, accurate and complex.
Continued Astoria's Ortega, "WorldServer On-Demand is a great fit with Astoria On-Demand, especially in terms of our content reuse and their translation optimization. Ultimately, Idiom and Astoria offer complementary value propositions for customers looking to simplify workflows, lower costs and accelerate time-to-market."
Added Silberstein of Idiom, "By embracing SaaS, Astoria and Idiom let customers avoid enormous, up-front software investments that get amortized over several years. Our SaaS solution delivers value immediately, from the first day. And the SaaS model lets customers adapt the solution to their changing business needs, scaling up - or back - quickly and easily."
