Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Adjusts Medical and Pharmacy Benefits for Members Affected by the Significant Snowfall in Connecticut

Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield today announced revised medical and pharmacy guidelines to help members living in Connecticut who are directly impacted by the significant snowfall.

The revised guidelines will help Anthem members who are impacted by the significant snowfall access needed medical care and prescription drugs. Members affected and in need of medical attention should seek medical assistance wherever it is available and have their medications refilled at any pharmacy.

For impacted members, Anthem is:

• Allowing the affected members to see any physician necessary to provide access to care.
• Waiving the notification penalty on utilization management (UM) review of in-hospital cases.
• Suspending early refill limits for prescriptions.
• Allowing replacement of medical equipment or supplies.
• Extending filing deadlines for claims.

These medical and pharmacy guidelines are effective immediately until February 6, 2015 or unless further extended.

These relaxedmedical and pharmacy guidelines do not apply to Medicare Advantage members. Medicare Advantage has specific guidelines.
