Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology Announces Women of Vision Auction Fundraiser on eBay Featuring Lunches With Technology Leaders

PALO ALTO, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- The Anita Borg Institute (ABI) announced today its first Women of Vision Auction Fundraiser. The auction, which goes live on eBay on April 28, 2008, will include unique opportunities to meet with members of the Institute's Board of Trustees, sponsors and key advisers at or near their place of business.



"The ABI Board of Trustees are technology leaders who are actively engaged in the Institute's work of helping organizations recruit, retain and advance technical women and enhance their impact on technology and the world," said Telle Whitney, CEO and President of the Anita Borg Institute. "We are very grateful to them for donating their time to this worthy cause. The lunch meetings with our board members and sponsors are opportunities for people to get the attention of these major industry leaders."

The auction will run for 11 days and will close at the Women of Vision Awards Banquet on May 8. Computers will be available on site to enable banquet attendees to make last minute bids, but attendance is not required to win.


Auction items include lunches with:

-- Alan Eustace, Senior Vice President Engineering & Research, Google

-- Bill Unger, Partner Emeritus, Mayfield Fund

-- Fran Berman, Ph.D., Professor of Computer Science and Engineering, University of California San Diego

-- Justin Rattner, Chief Technical Officer, Intel

-- Kathy Hill, Senior Vice President Access Networking and Services Group, Cisco Systems

-- Penny Herscher, President and CEO, firstRain

-- Rick Rashid, Senior Vice President Research, Microsoft

-- Telle Whitney, President and CEO, Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology

-- Rami Branitzky, Managing Director, SAP Labs North America

Also being auctioned are:

-- A 10 x 14-inch watercolor painting created at the winner's request by Maria Klawe, President, Harvey Mudd College

-- A full-day coaching session with Isabella Conti, Principal and Founder of the management consulting firm Lisardco
