Alianza Powers Broadband Phone Services for Electric Cooperatives

Alianza Inc., the cloud voice platform company, announced today that Co-Mo Connect, Maquoketa Valley Electric Cooperative, NEXT, powered by North Arkansas Electric Cooperative, and OzarksGo have selected Alianza's (News - Alert) Cloud Voice Platform to power phone services over their growing fiber broadband networks. These electric cooperatives will offer essential broadband services to a total of more than 120,000 homes and businesses in their serving areas once construction is complete. This new customer adoption coincides with Alianza's investment in fiber VoIP solutions (see related announcement "Alianza Delivers Powerful, Easy-to-Launch VoIP Solution for Fiber ISPs") and ecosystem partnerships to build a strong community of cooperatives enabled with powerful broadband applications.

As they brought electric power to rural areas in the United States early last century, electric cooperatives are leading the charge in delivering fiber-based broadband services to these same underserved markets. They not only serve their residential and business members with modern voice, video and high-speed Internet services, but they also spur economic growth in their local communities.

Co-Mo Connect, a subsidiary of Co-Mo Electric, has been delivering broadband services in central Missouri since 2011 and sought a next-generation solution to deliver its broadband phone services. The improved cost model and service quality were key reasons the co-op decided to upgrade its VoIP solution and switch from a wholesale hosted VoIP solution based on legacy softswitch technology.

"Our subscribers have the most cutting edge broadband access," commented Andy Burger, General Manager, Co-Mo Connect. "With Alianza as our new voice partner, we are adopting an enduring, future-proof VoIP solution delivered from the cloud. This benefits Co-Mo operationally and financially and we'll be able to deliver a better customer experience for our subscribers."

Three cooperatives - Maquoketa Valley Electric Cooperative; NEXT, powered by North Arkansas Electric Cooperative; and OzarksGo, the telecommunications subsidiary of Ozarks Electric Cooperative - are newly launching voice along with fiber-based broadband. The new phone services provide margin-rich revenue and boost take rates for broadband services, aiding the business case for building fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) networks. A rapid time-to-market, ease of operations and a straightforward, success-based business model were key criteria in selecting a partner for their VoIP solution.

"Our members are looking to our cooperative for essential services including convenient and cost-effective VoIP home and business phone services," commented Randy Klindt, General Manager with OzarksGo. "Alianza's Cloud Voice Platform provides us with the best solution to deliver this service and grow."

"Electric cooperatives are becoming more essential to their communities as they satisfy their members' demands for modern connectivity and communication services," commented Kevin Dundon, Alianza's Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "Our solution helps them succeed with phone service delivery and strengthens the cooperative through margin-rich revenue growth."

Alianza is a Silver Associate Member of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) and is showcasing its fiber VoIP solution in booth #544 at the NRECA TechAdvantage Conference & Expo in San Diego February 28-March 2.
