'Alcatel releases first keyboard phone, OT-800 Tribe'

Aug 26, 2009 (DMEUROPE via COMTEX) -- Alcatel Mobile Phones has announced the OT-800 Tribe, its first mobile phone with a full AZERTY keyboard, to be sold by Orange France for under EUR 100 from the start of September, writes Les Mobiles. The tri-band EDGE handset features a 2.2-inch standard display, 2 megapixel camera, 20 MB of memory with a microSD slot (up to 4 GB), FM radio, MP3/ACC/MPEG4 player, Bluetooth 2.0, 500-entry directory and the Opera mini browser. The OT-800 Tribe, which will come in pink, green and grey, is targeted at young consumers who are fond of e-mail, chat and texting. Alcatel Mobile Phones is a subsidiary of Chinese mobile phone developer TCL, which said in June that the same phone would be launched in Hong Kong and China later this year, with a shipment target of 1 million units.
