Aetna Adds Olympia Snowe to Board of Directors [Health & Beauty Close - Up]


(Health & Beauty Close - Up Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Aetna reported that former United States Senator Olympia J. Snowe has been appointed to Aetna's Board of Directors, effective immediately.

According to a release from the company, with the addition of Snowe, 67, the company's Board increases to 13 members.

"Olympia is an admirable leader who has made significant contributions to public policy," said Mark T. Bertolini, Aetna chairman, CEO and president. "As a member of Congress, she broke through many barriers during her career and earned respect from both sides of the aisle. Her tireless work on legislation for the American people spans many sectors including business, health care, foreign affairs, budget, commerce and women's issues. We are honored that Olympia has joined our Board." Senator Snowe served in the U.S. Senate from 1995-2013, and as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from 1979-1995. She currently is chairman and CEO of Olympia Snowe, a senior fellow at the Bipartisan Policy Center, where she is a member of the board and co-chairs its Commission on Political Reform, and a member of the board of T. Rowe Price Group.
