Advantech and PolyCore Software Collaborate to Offer Tools-Assisted Multicore Programing for Current and Future Generation PCIe DSP Cards

MILPITAS, Calif. and BURLINGAME, Calif., Nov. 8, 2012 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- PolyCore Software, Inc. (PSI), leader in multicore development software solutions, and Advantech, a leading designer and manufacturer of multicore video processing platforms, today announced a partnership that aims to enable developers to rapidly develop and migrate programs for multicore designs.

PSI's Poly-Platform(TM), a premier collection of productivity tools and runtime communications engine, when integrated with Advantech's family of breakthrough video processing products based on Texas Instruments' (TI) TMS320C6678 (C6678) multicore digital signal processor (DSP), offer significant improvement in development schedules.

"Advantech's multi-processor, and multicore boards offer customers high performance computing and a rapid path to market," said Ted Gribb, vice president of sales, PolyCore Software. "With an Advantech board, together with Poly-Platform, customers can rapidly maximize the applications performance for the hardware topology." "PolyCore Software's suite addresses multicore developers' challenges with a comprehensive solution which scales across many DSPs," said Frank Fruth, software and systems director, multicore processors, Texas Instruments. "By implementing Poly-Platform on Advantech's hardware platforms, equipment manufacturers can expand their product line across multiple hardware platforms to meet desired performance levels at different price points." Advantech's DSPC-8681 integrates four C6678 multicore DSPs to achieve the highest possible performance levels in a half-length PCIe form factor. Poly-Platform provides engineers with the development tools needed to harness the full potential of this combination.

"Customer's want to effectively take advantage of multicore DSP processors using commercially available software tools which allow them to develop new products faster," said David Lin, senior director of DSP and video solutions, Advantech. "PolyCore Software's development platform, optimized for Advantech's TI C6678-based PCIe cards allows designers to fully exploit the multicore capabilities of our hardware, maximizing performance, programmability and portability." AvailabilityPoly-Platform is already being shipped on the Single 6678 EVM, and is now also available on the DSPC-8681 Quad 6678 PCIe card. Upcoming releases will include a seamless upgrade path to the DSPC-8682 Octal 6678 PCIe card.
