Advantech Launches New Industrial PCIe Network Adapter Line

(Marketwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) TAIPEI, TAIWAN -- (Marketwired) -- 08/28/14 -- Advantech (TWSE: 2395) today announced the introduction of a new product range with the launch of three PCI Express adapters that will enable industrial integrators, network equipment providers and cybersecurity vendors to integrate LAN access and acceleration devices with more robust and reliable feature sets into industrial PCs, high performance servers and high-end network appliances. The three adapters, based on Intel® Ethernet controllers are designed for multi-core processing applications and optimized for virtualized environments.

Multi-core processors and virtualized applications can leverage the Intel® I/O technologies available on the network controllers for load balancing data and interrupts amongst themselves in order to optimize and improve overall system performance. The new adapters offer excellent price/performance, enhanced power-savings and are backed by industrial lifecycles along with Advantech's comprehensive industrial lifecycle management program.

"Advantech's industrial PCIe network adapter line introduces a whole new range of accelerators, network interface cards, and intelligent NICs for system integrators to choose from - all backed by robust driver and optimized software framework support," said Peter Marek, senior director x86 solutions, Advantech Networks and Communications Group. "Our goal is to offer customers greater flexibility in port count, a menu of special functions such as Advanced LAN bypass as well as offload options allowing them to match I/O and feature sets with the workload at hand, more easily, on whatever platform or form factor meets their application needs. Our "no surprises" policy for life cycle management and commitment to 5 years product delivery and beyond will help our customers to optimize their supply chain and reduce total cost of ownership. We will continue the build out of this new product line with more new product introductions over the coming weeks. In addition, equipment makers can leverage our Customized COTS framework and industry leading intellectual property for designing custom network adapters with minimum cost, risk and time to market." The PCIE-2001 is a quad port fiber Gigabit Ethernet PCIe Adapter based on the Intel® Ethernet Controller I350-AM4 supporting direct attach (DA), multi-mode fiber (SX) and single mode fiber (LX) modules.

For integrators requiring LAN-bypass the PCIE-2002 is a quad port Gigabit Ethernet copper adapter with RJ45 ports also based on the Intel® Ethernet Controller I350-AM4 featuring Advantech's advanced LAN-bypass technology which guarantees uninterrupted network traffic in case of hardware failure.

The third adapter to be introduced is the PCIE-2201, a dual port fiber (SFP+) 10GbE Ethernet PCIe Adapter with an Intel® 82599ES 10 Gigabit Ethernet Controller and PCIe x8 Gen2 host interface supporting direct attach (DA), 10GBase-SR and 10GBase-LR connectivity.

All adapters are low power, high performing designs with validated signal integrity, performance and interoperability. Adapters are available in both low profile and full height form factors.

All the modules mentioned are available for sampling now. Advantech will be showcasing the new products at the Intel® Developers Forum, September 9-11 in San Francisco, CA, USA.
