Adobe Photoshop now available on Chromebook [ITP.net (United Arab Emirates)]

(ITP.net (United Arab Emirates) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Adobe Photoshop is now available for Chromebook users as a cloud-based piece of software, Google announced in a blog post yesterday.

The move comes as Google and Adobe announced a partnership to bring Adobe's Creative Cloud service onto the Chrome operating system, which has, until now, been largely ignored by creatives in need of professional software.

Google is hoping that the Adobe tie-up will help to bring more creative professionals around to the light-weight Chromebook ecosystem, which is largely web-based and runs software off the cloud. Photoshop will be made available for Chromebooks first, with plans for other Adobe software from the Creative Cloud suite due to be added later.

"This streaming version of Photoshop is designed to run straight from the cloud to your Chromebook," Google's blog said.

"It's always up-to-date and fully integrated with Google Drive, so there's no need to download and re-upload files - just save your art directly from Photoshop to the cloud." Google added that the partnership would also make it easier for IT administrators to manage software on Chromebook devices, as there is no long client installation and one-click deployment.

United States Creative Cloud customers would be able to access Photoshop for Chromebooks first, with other regions coming on board at a later date, Google said.
