6 Utah Jimmy John's stores caught in data breach [Deseret News (UT)]

(Deseret News (UT) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) SALT LAKE CITY - Some Jimmy John's restaurants in Utah are warning customers their credit card information may have been stolen.

The national sandwich franchise released a list of 216 affected stores Wednesday, including six Utah locations. The breach only appears to have affected customers who swiped payment cards at Jimmy John's locations and not those who ordered online.

In northern Utah, Jimmy John's is alerting customers who used their cards at 1482 N. Main St. in Logan between July 4 and Aug. 9; 3501 N. Center in Lehi between June 23 and July 31; and 2308 N. University Parkway in Provo between July 1 and Aug. 4.

Three St. George locations may also have been targeted, including 930 S. Bluff St. between July 1 and Aug. 7; 910 N. Dixie Downs Road between July 1 and Aug. 1; and 42 S. River Road between July 23 and July 31.

Any customers who visited the stores during the data breach are urged to monitor their account activity and immediately report anything suspicious to their bank.

Customers' names, card numbers, verification codes and expiration dates may have been compromised, according to the company. Login credentials were stolen from a point-of-sale vendor used by Jimmy John's, allowing the identity thieves to remotely access the payment system.

Jimmy John's reported Wednesday that the system has been secured and customers can again use their payment cards at the restaurants. The company is offering identity protection services to customers who may have been affected by calling 855-398-6442 or by visiting the company's website.

A full list of affected Jimmy John's locations and more information is available online.
