5 Alarm Music Launches Intuitive Online Search & Download Solution for Music Editors and Producers

PASADENA, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- 5 Alarm Music, a division of strategic music branding company DMI Music & Media Solutions, has harnessed the power of Soundminer's Web portal in a revolutionary approach to Web-based audio asset management, creating a user-friendly Web browser experience that offers producers and music supervisors a dynamic and easily navigable online search engine to find, download, manage and store music for any and all production applications. The system also automatically creates music usage reports (cue sheets) for producers in a hurry.

With the largest independent music library in the nation, 5 Alarm is a leader in custom and production music for the television, film, radio, and advertising industries. The company worked extensively with Toronto-based Soundminer Inc. to develop this innovative Web-based solution, dubbed "Search & Rescue," in keeping with 5 Alarm Music's brand motif and refurbished-firehouse headquarters.

The new login-based Search & Rescue Web portal is available to clients at http://www.5alarmmusicsearch.com. Through Search & Rescue, 5 Alarm Music offers 100,000 tracks from more than forty different libraries, including original music from top composers designed specifically for films, television advertising, games and other productions that call for music usage. The 5 Alarm library has provided tunes for some of Hollywood's biggest productions, including TV's "Desperate Housewives," "Friday Night Lights," Cashmere Mafia" and such recent films and upcoming films as The Other Boleyn Girl, College Road Trip and George Clooney-starrer Leatherheads. More information is available at www.5alarmblog.com

"5 Alarm works closely with some of the top music supervisors and producers in the entertainment business, and we realized how important it is to provide them with a tool that makes the searching for music fast, easy and with a search engine that is cross platform," said Cassie Lord, general manager of 5 Alarm Music.

As part of the new delivery system, 5 Alarm clients will have complete access to the company's music libraries, and will be able to instantly manage, control and download digital assets including MP3s, .WAV and .AIF files. Files accessed via the new client site will take advantage of a speedy search engine and automatically include embedded metadata in every downloaded copy so important details of a file stay with the end user throughout the workflow.

The Search & Rescue system also allows the creation of cue sheets for usage reporting at the click of the mouse, using created playlists.

"Soundminer and 5 Alarm are leading the charge in providing music producers with the industry's best and easiest way to interact with licensed music in an online workspace," said Steve Pecile, president of Soundminer Inc. "Our solution provides an incredible one-stop-shop for music while still protecting the music copyrights by incorporating metadata inside of every digital asset."

5 Alarm parent company DMI Music is known for its decade of experience in harnessing the power of music for brands and companies, lead by Grammy-nominated writer, music producer and branding expert Tena Clark, company CEO and chief creative officer.

"Film and television producers have long understood the power music holds to enhance the narrative of a production," Clark said. "Offering this powerful and effective method for selecting that music underscores our companywide commitment to empowering brands of all kinds to implement smart music strategies that support the message of the property and inspire customer or viewer loyalty."
