4th Annual CanBIM Innovation Spotlight Awards - Winners AnnouncedTORONTO, Sept. 25, 2018 /CNW/ - The Canada BIM Council (CanBIM) Announced the Winners for the 2018 Innovation Spotlight Awards as part of the CanBIM Toronto Regional Session: Technology Built Innovation: Smart Cities (Sept 19-20). CanBIM celebrated its 10th year in big fashion. The entire event was a resounding success with many new relationships forged, amazing networking opportunities, and some thought-provoking presentations with great insights into the future of the Architecture, Engineering, Construction and Owner/Operator industry (AECOO), and last but certainly not least, to cap off the event, was the CanBIM Innovation Spotlight Awards Dinner and Presentation, where CanBIM recognized the many leaders in the AECOO industry. On September 20th, CanBIM closed the event with its 4th Annual, Innovation Spotlight Awards Dinner and Presentation. The 2018 Award was designed through Turner Fleischer Architects in-house "Design-Design" competition; the winning design was created by Calvin Fung, Intern Architect. Top honours went to Carleton Immersive Media Studio (CIMS) for their innovative work on the Library of Parliament project. The Library of Parliament building information model captures one of Canada's most significant heritage monuments. Developed through a research partnership between Publi Services and Procurement Canada and the Carleton Immersive Media Studio, the Library BIM project is CIMS most complex BIM project to date. CIMS objective has been to create an accurate and detailed heritage record as well as capture the sense of awe that this building inspires. Special mention goes to IBI Group for winning both the Owners and Facility Management Award and the Technology Award for their innovative InForm Office Asset Management Solution, which is a cloud-based platform designed to serve the needs of corporate facilities managers. A modular solution which allows organizations to plan and manage space, as well as track and monitor all interior assets. CanBIM recognizes industry leaders in eight (8) award categories: Technology, Academics, General Contractors, Trades, Design & Engineering, Owners & Facility Management, International, Trailblazer (Volunteer of the Year) and Professional Achievement. Top honours are presented to the Best In Innovation, candidates for this category were selected from the winners of each of the award categories.
