3 Chinese Companies said to Build USD3bn Malaysian Broadband
BEIJING, Nov 02, 2009 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) --
Three Chinese telecoms equipment providers have been chosen as the main contractors for a USD 3.29 billion high-speed broadband network project in Malaysia, said a report without pointing out the sources.
In detail, the local telecoms operator Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM, KUL: TM) has taken four foreign companies as the project's main contractors, including Alcatel-Lucent (NYSE: ALU) as well as China's Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., ZTE Corp. (SZSE: 000063 and SEHK: 0763), and FiberHome Technologies Group. If the report came out to be authentic, FiberHome Technologies would snatch its first big order from Malaysia.
Huawei announced days ago that it was to provide the IPN2.0 intelligent packet network solutions for Morocco's biggest telecoms operator Maroc Telecom SA, as an effort to help improve the latter's 3G service capacity, traffic flow controllability, and mobile broadband service diversity.
In addition, ZTE's full-catalog data products have passed the authentication of Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ: MSFT) for their compatibility with the Windows 7 operating systems.
