2nd World Smart City Week Officially Opened in South Korea on September 18


Largest event of its kind in the Asia Pacific region, with specialists and scholars from around 50 different countries

SEOUL, South Korea, Sept. 19, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Ministry of Science and ICT (Minister Hyun Mi Kim and Young Min Yoo, respectively), the 2nd World Smart City Week officially opened on September 18 at KINTEX, South Korea. The convention, themed "Smart City: For better and happy life", will last until September 20 under the supervision of Korea Land & Housing Corporation (LH). During the event, visitors will be able to see the future of Smart Cities -- the main driving force  for South Korea's growth, as well as the future strategy and prospects of the city.

First opened in 2017, the convention was dubbed to be the largest of its kind in the Asia Pacific region, with around 300 specialists, scholars and industry representatives from around 50 countries interested in Smart City development participated. This year, the convention will include exhibitions, conferences and seminars with local government and industrial events, as well as events and opportunities for regular visitors.



Sam Cassatt, Head of Strategies - ConsenSys, received applauses from the audience for his keynote speech about the future development possibilities of combining blockchain technology into Smart Cities.

The exhibition hall showcased booths to promote technologies that are being applied to Smart Cities, where visitors can get their hands on with items on show. Business fairs, start-up competitions and investment opportunity presentations were also held, alongside an area that provides visitors with an up-to-date status of other nations' current status of becoming the next Smart City, such as China and the Netherlands.


Various seminars, presentations and global joint programs for the future development of Smart Cities in international and domestic markets, including case studies of past overseas developments, are expected to raise the quality of the event.
