The Year Ahead - with Independa's Kian Saneii

By Paula Bernier, Executive Editor, TMC

TMCnet recently asked some of the leading lights in the industry for their thoughts about 2011 and what’s in store for the year ahead.

Here’s what Kian Saneii, CEO of Independa, had to say.

What was your company’s greatest achievement in 2011?
Saneii: Independa launching the first two solutions in our suite of integrated care offerings to help caregivers enable the elderly to enjoy longer, safer and more comfortable independence: Smart Reminders and the Angela social engagement solution. Also, completing our seed round of funding.

What are your business’s goals for 2012?
Saneii: Independa will complete the rollout of its integrated care solutions for the elderly, including an array of health, safety and activity sensors, as well as expansion of our distribution channels.

How would you describe your outlook for business and the economy at large heading into 2012?
Saneii: Extremely positive as the challenges of dealing with our aging population are becoming crystal-clear. Emerging market conditions reinforce the need for the Independa integrated telecare platform and the benefits it offers.

If there’s one thing you’d like to see happen related to business in the year ahead, what is that one thing?
Saneii: Pervasive 4G broadband connectivity.

If 2011 was the year of cloud and/or the year of the tablet, 2012 will be the year of...
Saneii: Wireless healthcare

Any other thoughts you’d like to share about the year ahead?
Saneii: I really believe in 2012 we will see a significant shift of health care delivery from the institutional setting to the home environment.
