Small Business Owners Need Help

Small business ownership may be the most difficult job in the world. That is in large part because small business owners have so many jobs wrapped into one. Often they are salesmen, bookkeepers, accountants, HR, CEOs, and laborers in their own companies.

Surviving in all of those roles at once can be next to impossible. Luckily, there are third-party organizations available to help take much of that stress off the small business owner and let them get back to the parts of running their businesses that they love.

Human Resources

Human resources is more than hiring, firing, and settling employee disputes. This role entails things like developing employee handbooks, handling employee training, benefits administration, safety protocols, and onboarding new employees.

Employee rights laws change every year and with those, handbooks, training programs, required posting, and safety protocols have to change, too. Staying on top of all of this and recruiting, hiring, disciplining, and firing employees can be a full-time job in and of itself. It's why large companies have whole divisions dedicated to HR.

There are companies that offer third-party HR solutions and comprehensive HR management to small businesses. Companies like Paypro offer those services at a small enough fee that many small business owners can afford to hire these tasks out.

Payroll

While payroll often falls within the realm of HR services, sometimes, business owners just need help keeping up. When employees are hourly, or when workforces grow quickly, managing to stay on top of payroll can not only be difficult, but stressful. One slip up can cost a company valuable employees or employee trust.

Whether hiring out full-service HR firms or just looking to unload the stress of this singular task, small business owners can get help.

Bookkeeping and Accounting

Any small business owner can tell you of the hours late into the night they spend trying to catch up on the books after another long day at work. They'll be able to tell you of lost receipts and stress over open invoices.

Worse is tax time. When the books aren't closed quickly and accurately, business owners can be in hot water. With these people being 2.5 times more likely to be audited by the IRS, sloppy or incomplete books are not ok. Luckily freelance bookkeeping is a thriving business and trusted bookkeeping professionals are easy to find. Many business accountants keep a few bookkeepers either on staff or on retainer, as well.

Legal

The last thing any business owner wants to worry about is legal compliance. As difficult it can be to stay on top of, as big of a headache it can be to consider with each business decision, and as complex as the law itself can be, there is no choice but to be legal wary.

While many small business owners can't afford expensive law firms or legal retainers, there are other options. Companies like Rocketlawyer or LegalZoom offer business packages that not only cover legal filings, but come with consultations with lawyers around the country.  These packages can offer significant savings and real legal advice to smaller companies.

Business ownership is hard. If you're struggling to juggle all of your responsibilities, know that you don't have to. There are options out there that work and that you can afford.
