Importance Of Using Technology In Sports

Technology and sports go hand in hand nowadays. Almost any sport uses some form of technology to make the game better, faster, and more exciting. Technologies are constantly being improved in many ways and people always search for new ways to implement certain technologies into the sports game. This is done because technology can make the game perfect. Mistakes and errors will be minimized or eliminated with the use of certain technologies. We all know that people are bound to make errors in judgment. That is just in human nature. But with the help of modern technologies, all mistakes can be avoided and sports results will be fairer.

Which Technologies Help Sports

The human eye can sometimes be deceiving. Sometimes referees cannot see the same things we as spectators see in games. This is a major issue in all sports, which is why there are constant discussions about using and installing video technologies into games. Since a couple of years ago, the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology was introduced in football games and results are mixed. Although mistakes are minimized to the lowest level possible, some mistakes still can happen. That is why we should not solely rely on technology, but use it as help in certain questionable situations.

Tennis, cricket, and ping pong also rely on technology. Video technology helps referees to make better decisions. For example, in ping pong and tennis, the ball moves very fast and without the usage of technology, results would be different and much worse for some players. New Ping Pong Beast players are more acceptable towards technology, but older players that have not used these technologies in the past are more suspicious of whether they are working correctly.

Besides the mentioned VAR technology, there is also Hawk-Eye technology that is being used in tennis. Some ping pong tournaments also use this technology for questionable situations, and Hawk-Eye technology also proved to be very helpful. Hawk-Eye is a system that connects several cameras that are situated in different places around the court. All of those cameras have unique views on the playing court and make a very accurate representation of the ball path. This means that when there is a very close call that cannot be determined with the human eye, video technology can help in making a fast and correct decision. This technology is not used in all tournaments and sports, but it is slowly getting into more and more types of sports.

We can conclude that using technology in sports like ping pong or tennis is very important. Those sports offer very fast action and rapid movement. Sometimes some things cannot be seen accurately with a naked eye, so technology must be used as help. This does not mean that video technology should replace human referees, but that it should be used as help only in certain situations. We should expect to see some new forms of technology in the world of sports coming up soon, making many games better and fairer.
