How to Build Your First Website in 22 Minutes

Building a website is not only good for marketing purposes. If you haven’t done this before, your first website will be a perfect opportunity to learn and practice. The good thing about websites is – you can always edit them and improve them. In fact, when you create a website, you are completing a single out of many steps. Websites are consistent work which, if done properly, can bring you more success than anything else you’ve done for your business.

That being said, we see no real reason why you shouldn’t have a website for yourself or your business. Online presence is important and can be truly rewarding. Since you’ll have full control over the website, it’s up to you to build it and work on it. Thankfully, we have just the right approach that will help you make your own websites in no more than 22 minutes!

Step 1: Buy a Domain

There are plenty of domain providers that you can choose to get a domain for your website. This step is very short, but crucial. Without a domain, you won’t be able to create a website.

You can choose to either go with a professional domain provider or get your domain directly from the website platform you’re using. WordPress is the most popular platform for websites nowadays and they do offer domains in addition to website packages.

Some of the popular domain websites include Bluehost, NameCheap, Domain, Hostgator, etc.

Step 2: Find a Webhost for the Domain

Once you have a domain, you’ll need hosting for it. A hosting server is the spot where you’ll keep the website data. In other words, this is the place where you’ll keep all the content you publish, the files or images you upload, and basically any other data you choose to publish on the website.

At this point, Bluehost is the most popular hosting service. If you have the domain ready, you can just put in the domain name you’ve selected, complete the payment, assign the domain name to the website, and you’re good to go.

Depending on the hosting you choose, it might take you a short while to get your request accepted. With popular hostings like this one, verification takes only minutes.

Step 3: Install the CMS of WordPress

Now that you have the domain and the hosting, you need to turn this into a manageable website for you to work on. All you have to do is install the CMS or the Content Management System of WordPress. You can always go with a different option, but this one is by far the simplest and most popular management system available on the web.

When on WordPress, you can organize and customize a website easily and without any troubles. However, you’d still have to choose between WordPress.com and WordPress.org. Both these come with numerous benefits and at a different cost.

To install WordPress and start working on your website, you can, once again, use Bluehost. Here are some short steps:

  • Just log in to the account and press Hosting. You can find it in the top menu.
  • Find the section named Website and select ‘Install WordPress’. If you’ve chosen a different hosting or want to do this directly on WordPress, just visit their website.
  • As soon as you attempt to install WordPress, the system will ask you to provide the domain you want to use on the website. Once you do this, they’ll verify and check your domain.
  • Make sure to agree with the Terms and Agreements and press Install Now.
  • When WordPress is installed, press on View credentials and View again. Check the username, URL, and the password assigned by the system.
  • Use the information to log in to your new WordPress website.

Step 4: Customize the Website

Once you’re done with the three steps we discussed, you already have a website. However, it is by far not a ready one. You have to create a good appearance of the website and naturally, add some information in the form of content, multimedia, contact details, and more.

What follows are short, speedy steps you should be taking:

  • Find the dashboard menu in the WordPress back-end. Press Appearance, then Themes. Select the option ‘’Add new theme’’.
  • Choose a theme or type a name of a theme you plan to use for your website. If you don’t have one ready, search their theme directory – there are thousands of free and paid options for you there.
  • Select a theme and install it. Once the installment process is done, activate the theme.
  • Start customizing the theme. Choose a website title, maybe write a tagline, and save this information.
  • Select your preferred colors, fonts, etc.

Step 5: Start with Your Content

When you ask people how to make a website or search for an answer in your search engine, you’ll probably come up with the steps above or something similar. But, while most guides tell you how to create a website, they often fail to share with you the key part. Your website creation will be worthless unless you have something to put on it. As we said, website is plenty of work and as such, it will demand some work.

When you’ve found a theme and designed your website, you’re ready to start publishing things on it. With that in mind, the very first thing you need is content. Without it, your website will be nothing.

Of course, the steps that lead to the website being created are simple and take around 20 minutes, but this part will take much of your time later. But, there’s no need to despair. If you don’t have the time to write the content, you can always consult professionals. Moreover, if you’re a student and have to write other pieces for school, you can use the same source of quality content – popular essay services for students. If you’re ready to write or publish your ready content, here is how you do it:

  • Find the field in the WordPress dashboard that says +New. Select ‘Post’ from the drop down menu that appears.
  • Write the body and headline of your post. Add any images, videos, or other type of multimedia you plan to publish with your post.
  • Add a featured image, select a category, and perhaps check your content for SEO.
  • Click publish if you want to publish the post immediately, or schedule if you have a specific time or date in mind.

Conclusion

That’s it! In only four short steps, you can create a website within less than 22 minutes. With some extra effort, you can go through the fifth step and create enough content to get your website up and running. Just remember – websites require consistency, so you’ll definitely have to go through step five at least once every week. But for now, you’ve done an amazing and big job. Congratulations!
