The Latest Advances in Plastic Surgery

With the changing of times and various standards of beauty, the demand for cosmetic surgery has been dramatically growing worldwide. According to the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, there is about 9% of growth in both non-surgical and surgical procedures annually.

The most common treatments are eyelid surgery, liposuction, breast augmentation, breast lifting, and abdominoplasty. Women take up about 86.2% of all procedures. Today, there are many rhinoplasty options, and you can easily get one that is right for you.

The top Advancements in Today’s Plastic Surgery

Millions of people consider reconstructive surgeries and plastic surgeries to be monumental in improving their lives. They believe it takes them far beyond their personal insecurities.

With the tremendous growth we see in this field, the question is raised: Are there other advancements possible to be found therein? Are there any new, unfounded techniques that will perhaps aid us in the reconstruction of human skin? The plastic surgery options are also many and varied, and you will need to know just what is right for you (if in fact you are considering whether you should get surgery or not). Here is a look at the top options.

1. Botox

Botulinum toxin (or what is commonly known as Botox) is one of the most popular beauty procedures throughout the world, because of its fast effects and non-invasive nature. Its discovery dates back to 1987, when two talented Canadian doctors found the offbeat uses of toxins, which were generally used only in the case of severe spasms.

They found that these very same toxins could be used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. These injections are now made more effective with the practice of using smaller quantities. With today’s technology, it is now possible for the surgeon to focus on a single area without causing any weird effects to surrounding body parts.

2. Derma fillers

Derma fillers have also drawn a lot of attention, because of easy procedures and lasting effects. In 1893, a doctor by the name of Neuber experimented by using fat collected from one of his patient’s arms to fill in gaps formed by facial defects.

During the 40s and 50s, there was a boom seen in the usage of silicon-based derma fillers, instead of using the conventional fat fillers. But, seeing various complications in the patients, they were banned from use up until 1992. During the seventies, the use of animal collagens also increased. Animal collagens were often featured and used in implants or injections. They further continued to develop until the mid-2000s. Today, after being rigorously tested, derma fillers have gained extreme ground, and are available for use.

3. Tumescent liposuction

In this, the tumescent liposuction technique is used. The surgeon injects specialised solution beneath the fat layers of the skin.

The solution is taken with a diluted form of anaesthesia. The technique uses a targeted action to cut down fat as quickly as possible.

Even though liposuction was developed thoroughly in 1985, it has undergone a lot of advances to keep it from causing complications.

4. IPL

Millions of people struggling with broken capillaries, acne, and severe wrinkles go through treatments that involve intense, pulsating light.

It is used for hair removal and has gained immense popularity among the crowd. The reason why people love this technique is because IPL destroys the hair roots or hair follicles completely and permanently. Though there are plenty of cheap methods available in the market, the intense light techniques remain unbeatable, due to their reliability and permanence.

5. IPL- photofacials

The same devices mentioned earlier are used a in variety of ways to heat the skin. Their uses are extremely advantageous.

These techniques help people who have had various skin problems throughout their lifetimes. They may have issues such as hyperpigmentation; skin that is sensitive and becomes damaged by the sun. Liver spots are often treated by photofacials too. Problems like enlarged blood vessels or even enlarged pores can be cured as well. There is also a high amount of results for curing wrinkles. But, this procedure demands regular application.

There are certain dos and don’ts related to this technique, which should be thoroughly researched before moving on with it.
