New TMC Award to Highlight Innovative Tech Culture

By Casey Houser, Contributing Writer

In the various websites and print magazines that TMC (News - Alert) publishes, awards for technological innovation sprinkle their pages. What’s new on that horizon? The TMC Tech Culture Award.

For any business that provides a unique work environment to its employees, the Tech Culture award could be for them. As TMC CEO Rich Tehrani (News - Alert) notes in his blog, this new award aspires to show the information technology world which companies have set a high bar for their employees and have given back with exemplary perks that can improve the daily grind and trump the average Silicon Valley tenure of just nine months.

That isn’t a typo. Tehrani cites a Seattle Times article that says, even though it takes about three months to train a new employee, new software developers tend to only stick around for three-fourths of a year.

It is apparent that Tehrani and TMC thinks companies can best those numbers. “The recognition of this program is designed to become the resource tech workers use to determine where they want to work,” the CEO continues. Awards given to these future picks will be a stamp of approval regarding where individuals may want to work and a pass for strutting around with heads held high.

Which companies should apply? Officially, any companies that desire a trophy, notoriety within a media campaign, a complimentary press kit, and unlimited use of the Tech Culture Award logo – all prizes for taking home an award – could put their names into the hat. Only those who best demonstrate their creation of a positive work culture, perhaps through flexible work schedules or community service opportunities, will find themselves winners in the end.

Boldly put, the award page says: “If your company provides benefits above and beyond, you deserve to be recognized and honored for your enviable work environment.”

Any companies out there that think they are worthy of envy can download and complete the questionnaire at the link listed directly above. Early birds must finish their applications by March 4; final applicants should complete their forms by May 27.
