Comings and Goings: Tech Execs on the Move

There was plenty of announcements this week when it came to tech executives. Here’s a roundup of the top tech exec moves this past week.

Microsoft executive, Julie Larson-Green, moved this week from leading the company’s hardware development as the top exec at its Devices and Studios Group to taking a leading role it its Applications and Services Group.

The new job role will make Larson-Green chief experience officer for products including Bing, Office and Skype, among others.  She’ll report to Qi Lu, the executive vice president who leads the Applications and Services Group.

Ontario's Ryerson University just announced that it has made a key addition to its campus. Starting this summer, the university will be home for the outgoing Information and Privacy Commissioner in Ontario, Ann Cavoukian.

Cavoukian is currently serving her third term in the Ontario Legislature, a career which has spanned 15 years, and will conclude her term on July 1. After that, she will fill the position of executive director for Privacy and Big Data for the university. You can learn how the university will use her skills by reading our report.



Video monetization software and solutions provider, Piksel, this week announced a handful of key appointments. The company, based in New York City, has appointed Brian Benitez as the senior vice president of product, Dan Bleeker as the senior vice president of software development, Sean Everett as the product manager at OVP, and Paul Hodgson as the product manager at Piksel Services.

These new appointments are part of the company’s plans to strengthen its business for future growth and development. You can learn more about the team Piksel is putting into place by reading our report from earlier this week.

Herndon, Va.-based EdgeConneX also announced this week that it has added Peter Neill to its staff as senior vice president of global product strategy and customer experience. EdgeConneX develops infrastructure solutions for network operators, content providers, and wireless carriers, including data centers, point of presence networks, and small-cell wireless networks.

Neill most recently worked as the chief customer experience officer and senior vice president of business process engineering at Level 3 Communications. Learn more about the appointment and what it means for EdgeConneX in our report.

Over in the machine-to-machine (M2M) space, Cohda Wireless this week announced that Bernd Luebben will handle business development in Europe for the company.

“Luebben is quite a name in his own right, and has been tasked with global business development out of Cohda Wireless' new office in Germany,” we noted in our report earlier this week. “Luebben will likely make a good fit for this position as he currently boasts more than 20 years' experience in the field, working in both automotive and semiconductor fields.”

Luebben previously led the European Automotive Sales and Application team at Texas Instruments, and was also part of operations with Continental, Mentor Graphics (formerly known as Volcano) and Motorola (News - Alert) TCG. Also over in Europe, Lisbon-based Altitude Software (News - Alert) this week announced that its R&D director, Miguel Vital, will take over as chief technology officer for the company.

Vital will help drive the latest technology trends in contact centers, ensuring that its Altitude uCI solution (its unified customer Interaction suite over IP) maximizes results in the contact centers and provides successful real-time analytics solutions for their customer interaction and organizational efficiency strategies.

This week communication lifecycle management solutions provider, Avotus (News - Alert), named a new CEO: James P. Martino. Martino was promoted from global vice president of operations and customer relations within the company.

"I am excited at the opportunity to lead our organization forward into its next phase,” noted Martino. “Since arriving in 2011, I have focused our team on delivering exceptional service to enterprise clients seeking to save money and enhancing the return on their telecom related investments. I could not be more proud of our talented team. Now is the time to extend these gains.”

Finally, this week a former head of specialist solutions came back to managed communications service provider Azzurri Communications (News - Alert). The U.K-based company has rehired Antony Vigar as head of business development. Vigar left the company two years ago to serve as sector head for media and hi-tech accounts at Vodafone (News - Alert). In his new role with Azzurri, Vigar will focus on supporting growth in both the company’s core enterprise communications customer base and its upcoming ICON cloud and managed services, according to the company.
