'BYO' What? An IT Survival Guide for the 'YO' Era

According to Gartner (News - Alert), one-fifth of all bring your own device (BYOD) enterprise projects will fail by 2016. That's some scary stuff. Your company can’t be a part of this unsuccessful 20 percent, which means your IT department needs to step up its game.

The enterprise BYOD movement has empowered today’s modern workforce, but this is just the tip of the mobile working iceberg. What was once deemed a passing trend has over the last few years transformed into an industry standard across the globe. BYOD caught on so fast and strong, in fact, that it brought the rise of several other important “YO” acronyms from CYOD (choose your own device) to BYOA (bring your own application) to BYOC (bring your own cloud).

There’s so much that IT teams need to keep up with in order to ensure that their companies’ projects don’t fail within the projected next two years. Operations must continue without a hitch. So, how can IT create a fully baked strategy that not only encompasses the extent of today’s “YO” reality, but also preserves the value of their business?
