A new website set to launch this autumn will match shelter animals with potential adopters using tools typically found on dating websites. AllPaws.com, launched by DCL Ventures, Inc., will include an online interface that includes advanced search tools, match alerts, direct messaging and other features.
AllPaws.com’s refined search options are inspired by dating websites and designed to help animals find homes best suited to their needs. Animal shelters will be able to create profiles for their animals. Potential adopters can search animals by categories such as breed, age, gender, location, energy level, training level and temperament.
Set to launch in October, AllPaws.com already has more than 100,000 available pets listed on the website and expects to add more than 2,000 new pets each day. The site has partnered with RescueGroups.org, which will share adoptable pet data from more than 3,700 rescues and shelters with AllPaws.
The website will list a wide variety of pet types, ranging from dogs and cats to rabbits and guinea pigs. The company will even include a few unusual animals, such as alpacas and llamas. Potential pet owners can search for pets and contact the listing owner directly through the site to learn more or meet the pet. AllPaws.com will be free to use.
"I am so excited about the chance to combine my passion for startups with my love for animals," said Darrell Lerner, founder and president. "I have gained so much knowledge related to matching and connecting people from my years in the online dating space, and we're essentially re-creating that same exact experience again with AllPaws.com to better connect available pets with new owners. I firmly believe that my expertise in this area, combined with the limited functionality of the existing market offerings, affords us a unique opportunity to build a transcendent and transformational product, while simultaneously doing a lot of good by helping more homeless pets find their way into good homes."
Lerner co-founded SNAP Interactive in 2005, which created AYI.com (Are You Interested?), a dating application on Facebook (News - Alert) with more than 68 million installs. His goal with AllPaws.com is to use modern technology and social media to reduce the number of pets in rescues and animal shelters and help more homeless pets find good homes.
