Streamweaver Releases on App Stores, Allows for Mobile Creation of Split-Screen Video

By Kayvon Ghoreshi, TMCnet Contributing Writer

Today, Streamweaver announces its international release on the App Store in English, Portuguese, Russian, French, Italian, German, Turkish, Korean, Chinese and Japanese. The app’s main goal is to allow friends to be able to record video and then create and share split-screen video.

Smartphones have allowed for the easy capture of video, as well as the easy sharing of video. However, currently this sharing is the only social element added to video. Streamweaver hopes to add a new layer of social interaction with shared creation of video. With location based recording, you and three friends can record an event from multiple angles. After everyone has recorded their part, they upload them through the app and Streamweaver combines them into a single split-screen video that plays all the perspectives.

While a split-screen viewing experience is common in TV and, film, we're the first to bring it to mobile video," said Jay Hake, chief executive officer for Streamweaver. "Understanding that the applications for a single technology can vary across cultures, we can't wait to see how people around the world decide to use Streamweaver."

Streamweaver also acts as a social network. Similar to sites like Twitter (News - Alert) and Instagram, it has an interface that sports a global video feed, a discover section, an interactions center, and a user profile. The app also uses follows in the same way as Twitter. Users can follow anyone or anything they value from friends, to celebrities, and even their favorite brands. All videos recorded with the app can be uploaded to the cloud via WiFi or carrier network, and once they are combined, the completed split-screen video can be shared with anyone through YouTube (News - Alert), Facebook, Twitter, SMS and email.

You can download Streamweaver for free on the App Store for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch as long as the devices are running iOS 6.0 or higher.
