Ventev Expands in Asia-Pacific Region with Wi-Fi Infrastructure Solutions

By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor

A partnership has been announced between Ventev (News - Alert) Wireless Infrastructure, a division of TESSCO Technologies Incorporated, and X-TRA Communications, an IT provider based in Singapore. The two plan to work together to distribute wireless LAN and Wi-Fi infrastructure solutions to government agencies and corporations within the Asia-Pacific region.

This new agreement stipulates that Ventev Wireless Infrastructure’s TerraWave (News - Alert) product line will be available through X-TRA Communication’s regional resellers and other distribution channels. Value-added resellers can also extend standard reach and introduce the solutions into new areas of opportunity.

The partnership was initiated as a way to allow Ventev to reach new markets. The company hopes this strategic alliance will enhance its ability to effectively and promptly serve all enterprises and value-added resellers in Asia. As international growth in wireless data networks is on a steady pace, the company is ready to capitalize on new opportunities.

Currently, Ventev distributes 350 manufacturer products. The company’s goal is to produce products and engineer solutions that allow customers to deploy new solutions, protect power and improve the performance of the wireless network. Jeff Lime (News - Alert), VP of Ventev, recently joined Rich Tehrani in the TMC newsroom to discuss how Ventev is providing an ecosystem of wireless solutions for customers.

“We have the kinds of products that enable our customers to take Wi-Fi outside,” said Lime. “Cellular is starting to move from the outside to the inside of a building. Very difficult to get signals inside the building so these antenna systems allow customers to deploy and get the coverage inside.”

This move is a testament to Ventev’s pulse on the industry, understanding the challenges that exist for today’s user and how best to implement solutions to address these challenges and create new opportunities.

Lime added, “Indoor and outdoor wireless is another core of our business. We have a big core heritage under Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi is starting to move outside. We are trying to create the solution that will allow our customers to deploy Wi-Fi outside easier. The Big Brother to the single access point deployment is what we are calling our self-contained temporary Wi-Fi hotspot. It allows our customers to create temporary hotspots in various venues.”
