Spring Mobile Teams Up with SAP Brazil on Cloud-based Mobile Solution

By Erin Harrison, Executive Editor, Cloud Computing

In an effort to provide its Brazilian and Latin American customers with cloud-based mobile device management (MDM) and provide access through an integrated platform, Spring Mobile Solutions has signed an Infrastructure Technology Outsourcing (ITO) agreement with SAP Brazil.

Reston, Va.-based Spring Mobile Solutions – formerly known as Spring Wireless (News - Alert) – provides mobile application software and services to 450 enterprise customers globally. The collaboration is the first step in a broader strategy for Spring in regard to its commercial relationship with SAP (News - Alert), according to Julian Tonioli, senior vice president of business development at Spring Mobile.

“Because we were already in the process of integrating and certifying our products and applications on SAP’s Mobility Platform, we are able to approach our customers with business apps and solutions natively integrated into the SAP landscape,” Tonioli said in a statement. “This has been a growing demand for our customers and we are excited to have this integrated solution in hand.”

Most of SAP Brazil’s customers have large volumes of mobile devices that need to be managed and controlled through an integrated service, according to Fabian Valverde, SAP Brazil mobility sales director.

“This task requires specific software and service components,” Valverde explained. “Our joint solution allows us to combine the capabilities of SAP and Spring to support the required implementation and operational services in the cloud making them more accessible technically and financially to the customers.”

In May, Conor Keane (News - Alert) was promoted as president and CEO of Spring Mobile. Keane, who previously served as chief sales officer, succeeded David Mitchell (News - Alert), who had been CEO since January of 2012. Earlier this year, Spring Mobile Solutions raised $6 million out of a planned $9 million private offering.
