Devicescape Shows Off New Approach to Magnifying Network Capacity Reach

By Miguel Leiva-Gomez, TMCnet Contributor

David Nowicki, Devicescape's CMO, recently presented a new concept at the Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association (News - Alert) (CTIA) 2013 convention.

On May 22, after placing free Wi-Fi connectivity in the city of Las Vegas, Nowicki explained how public Wi-Fi utilization can present influential effects on data usage during a presentation called, “Magnify Capacity-Reach and Elevate User Experience.”

During the conference, the company highlighted a new way to ensure optimal network capacity in wireless networks through its Curator Service solution, a piece of software that uses intelligent network selection in order to enable carriers to point their subscribers to the best available Wi-Fi network to maximize the user experience. This brings an answer to the dilemma of capacity-reach, which presents problems when too many people are streaming from one particular Wi-Fi router.

Devicescape is connected with the largest virtual network of high-quality Wi-Fi hotspots, allowing mobile service providers to automate network selection to provide the best user experience wherever their users may be. The company's new solution also assists mobile operators in keeping their users in the best possible connection state, ensuring that they will be able to enjoy their regular doses of online activity without having to hunt for it.

Additionally this year, the CTIA (News - Alert) convention included some interesting technologies like the Kevo electronic lock, a lock that connects via Bluetooth to your phone, allowing for keyless entry. Ericsson (News - Alert) presented a smart window that integrates cellular technology and an interactive screen. And, last but not least, ZAGG debuted a new enclosure for the iPad Mini that has an embedded tactile keyboard, much like the keyboard cover for the Microsoft (News - Alert) Surface.
