Mailbox App Gets a Facelift of Sorts

By Jamie Epstein, TMCnet Web Editor

Users worldwide are extremely fond of applications that allow them to send and receive e-mails from anywhere and at any time. In order to keep up with new demands from consumers, companies are finding themselves continuously reinventing the wheel, or in other words adding capabilities to make their apps more efficient. Mailbox, a widely leveraged app from Dropbox (News - Alert), is the latest to do just that.

Focusing on its iPad version for now at least, the Dropbox app only works with Gmail accounts, according to reports, leaving fellow Yahoo e-mail lovers like me left in the dust. However, it looks as if, in this situation at least, the pros may outweigh the cons, as this solution is being praised for letting the masses read their important messaging through swipe like gestures. Hence, they are able to separate and clear out their Web-based folder easier and more efficient than ever before.

Previously, those fond of the app could only utilize it on an iOS 6 device, but with this latest release, they can turn to their favorite tablet, which happens in most cases to be an iPad.

A recent report stated, “The new app takes the iPad's size into consideration, but also sticks to Mailbox's mission of simplicity. There are the same ways to quickly archive, delete, put e-mails in lists, and set messages so they will pop back up later for review -- the core of Mailbox's system for e-mail nirvana. The new app includes small but practical changes, like a bigger e-mail composition box and a menu drawer that opens up alongside the inbox instead of replacing it.”

A large amount of constantly following e-mails can be overwhelming, to say to the least. Fortunately, it seems as if a great application is now within reach to overcome this obstacle. Currently, Mailbox has over one million users who are sending upwards of 100 million messages a day. And with this new release, it is likely that number will continue to climb for the long term.
