Report Finds HD Voice is Experiencing Unprecedented Growth

By Rory J. Thompson, Web Editor

A new report, the third annual look at the HD voice marketplace, finds the industry is enjoying tremendous growth as more and more mobile service providers adopt the technology.

Compiled and written by Douglas Mohney, editor and publisher of HD Voice News, this comprehensive document titled “HD Voice 2013: Explosion” examines an ecosystem of technologies in close detail and highlights specific areas of growth and opportunity.

“This work builds on previous reports released in 2011 and 2012,” Mohney said. “It’s an in-depth discussion about the current state of HD voice services and technologies around the globe, encompassing an entire ecosystem of technology and service providers.”

Mohney started working on the reports several years ago, when he launched the HD voice website in 2009. He saw that a logical extension of that effort would be a comprehensive and ongoing look at what was taking place, and what areas needed to be worked on.

“HD voice has made significant gains in the mobile area since the previous report,” the paper notes in its opening commentary. “Coverage extends across nearly all of Europe through HSPA-based networks, with two or more providers offering HD voice in many countries. In Canada, every major provider now has AMR-WB voice, with 90 percent of the population on an HD voice-capable network. Three out of the four mobile providers in France now offer HD voice.”

One part of the findings that stood out for Mohney was the incredible expansion of HD voice adoption found in two areas that had previously been under the radar.

“For this year, we saw explosive growth in both the Middle East and Asia,” Mohney said. “In the last six months alone, Saudi Arabia added two new providers, and other providers began expanding in Jordan, Egypt, Israel and other countries in the region. We’ve also tracked similar movement in Asia, especially in Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and South Korea, among others.”

In addition to identifying various markets and the companies servicing them, the paper also offers a primer on HD voice, giving a clear explanation of how the technology works and why it’s important for businesses to consider adopting it.

Some areas of focus in the report include a “Worldwide Data Sheet”, “The iPhone (News - Alert) 5 Effect”, “Regional Advancements”, “Broadband’s Bummer” and “Marketing and Value Propositions for HD Voice” among others.

The complete report, running well over one hundred pages, is available for immediate download at only $199. For companies and service providers looking to get the most value and clarity over their voice lines, it’s an investment in the future that is sure to pay immediate and fulfilling dividends.
