Candy-maker Just Born to Improve Production with Sojourner Mobile Cloud-Based Platform

By Kasey Schefflin-Emrich, TMCnet Contributing Writer

Just Born Inc., a family-owned candy company known for such treats as Peeps, Mike and Ike and Hot Tamales, recently implemented a mobile platform from Sita Corp's Sojourner Mobile Communications to improve its production capabilities.

The Sojourner Mobile Enterprise Resource platform, which was deployed into Just Born at the same time as SAP's (News - Alert) Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence, is a cloud-based solution that will provide sales and critical business departments with a real-time, 360-degree view of various components of the company including sales, manufacturing, supply chain, logistics and business data analytics.

"The Sojourner Mobility and SAP MII solution is giving Just Born significant savings in time and resources, enhancing the forecasting process and thereby improving customer satisfaction," Edward Broczkowski, ERP implementation director for Just Born, said in a statement. "It is also eliminating manual data entry, redundancy and management of more than 400 spreadsheets, which helps fulfill orders quickly and completely, in addition to reducing inventory."

The Sojourner Mobile platform was deemed the perfect fit for candy maker's needs.

"Just Born required an out-of-the box solution that would easily and quickly integrate with a wide range of existing SAP applications, work with any mobile device, and any platform," Rom Reddy, president and CEO of Sita Corp, said in a statement. "Paired with SAP, Sojourner Mobility enables users to input and analyze data from any device, putting the power of real-time business intelligence at their fingertips."

The Sojourner Mobile Enterprise Resource platform is just one example of how mobile technologies are helping companies improve operations. In more recent news, German-based multinational software corporation SAP AG has developed a rapid-deployment solution known as SAP Mobile Analytics. The solution will provide enterprise workers with quick and easy access to real-time information about the performance and metrics of a company through a mobile application, thus increasing the efficiency of its business.

In addition, business management software and services provider Sage has teamed up with India-based IT consulting and software services provider Sonata Software to enhance its ERP product line. This will enable Sage to provide more efficient cloud and mobile computing services to small and medium businesses around the world, deliver next generation products to construction and real estate business clients, and provide customers with mobile access to real-time project information.
