Project Management Goes Mobile

By Jerry Biolchini, TMCnet Contributing Writer

Task management apps have been on iOS devices in one form or another, and now Liquidplanner 4.0 iOS gives customers over 15 features to fully plan, schedule and collaborate full scope projects on their iPhones and iPads. Project managers can enter the mobile world and carry the details of their projects without having to stay in the office.

LiquidPlanner is collaborative online project management tool that works as a mobile application that is designed to compliment to the online service. A project manger never knows what to expect from a client or even senior leadership. Having project details, in real-time, available is a great ability when meeting with a client or senior leadership.

Executing a project can be complex. It often involves coordinating people and resources, in addition to integrating the activities of the project in accordance with the project plan. To assist with this, LiquidPlanner (News - Alert) is able to provide priority based schedules, best/worst case planning when tasks are to be complete, as well as instant alerts when certain thresholds are going to be met, like an overrun on a budget, or delinquent deliveries. These real time assessments can allow a project manager and the team to get ahead of problems instead of reacting to them.

The software is as simple as the user wants it. As team members are added and the project begins to enter different life cycles, the software can accommodate more complex team structures. Online collaboration, notifications, and commenting bring a social networking feel to a project. The software can support multi-phase projects, and can facilitate monitoring of these phases, while allowing for feedback between project teams. This would allow the teams at all stages of a project to implement corrective or preventive actions to bring the project into compliance with the project plan.

"The era of managing a portfolio of projects from the palm of your hand is here," said Charles Seybold, LiquidPlanner's Chief Product Officer. "Anytime, anywhere project management is where we're headed."
