Eat and Drink like Famous Chefs

By Brittany Walters-Bearden, TMCnet Contributor

Knowing where locals like to eat and drink in town is always a great way to find the top hotspots. Knowing where chefs, sommeliers and bartenders like to eat and drink in town is even better.

Traditionally, getting this kind of insider information means reading countless articles and interviews, whether chefs have dished their favorites or bartenders and sommeliers have released their ‘best-of’ list to a local newspaper or magazine. As with all things these days, now, there is an app for that!

The new app, ‘Find. Eat. Drink.’ is bringing insider culinary information to the fingertips of Apple (News - Alert) users. ‘Find. Eat. Drink.’ cofounder, Robin Dorian said that she was inspired by an experience in a New York restaurant, where she spotted many recognizable chefs and wondered how they all knew to go there; “It’s about checking out places that inspire them—more interesting, ethnic, unique places. That’s how they eat and how they travel.” Users can do more than just find a restaurant; they can also make reservations through the app.

Gizmodo’s Leslie Horn has already given the app a positive review, suggesting that it is more advanced and credible than many of the traditional resources for dining and drinking recommendations; “You know where annoying Yelpers drink, and you know where name-dropping foodies eat. But what secret recommendations are the people who prep your food keeping in their back pockets?” SmarterTraveler echoed these sentiments.

In the past, dining and drinking recommendations were left to such resources as Zagat, but these days, everyone is a reviewer. Whether or not the response to this app suggests a kind of ennui with the new age of reviews and a desire to return to the old days (with a modern twist), when reviews came from credentialed sources, is yet to be seen. In the meantime, enjoy finding, eating, and drinking.
